Gordon Woodroof , Past Captain, funeral arrangements.

23rd May Southend Crematorium 4.00pm    West Chapel

It is with a 'sad heart' that I have to inform members of the death of an old friend, Gordon Woodroof.

He was Captain of the club in the early 70's and again nearly 20 years later. A very loyal servant to the club who sat on the committee and arranged many social events including the then Annual Dinner Dance at the Cumberland Suite in Westcliff.

A very competitive golfer who's name appears many times on the Honours Boards. He was part of the winning Kindred Club Shield side when we first won it in the 60's. He also represented the club in the Thornton Cup in the 'good old days' when we could field a team of 10 players under the handicap of 5.

I was lucky enough to caddie for Gordon on many occasions from 1966 to 1972 and always found him to be generous and a true 'Gentleman', he will be sadly missed.

The Captain & Committee ask you all to make the effort to attend the service and give him the send off and respect that he clearly deserves.

Dress code SGC Club Tie or simply SGC logo shirt/jumper.    Thank you.

  2. It goes without saying that sessions on the driving range and putting greens can be very valuable in lowering your handicap and taking strokes off of your game. Imp source
