We were only 4 days away from a huge problem!
This would have cost us a fortune but we were lucky and it all went well.
The Abba Tribute Band got things started on Wednesday and they were brilliant, just ask anyone that went.
Thursday saw the rain come and a lake half the size of the above was a real problem. I think a lot of people thought it would be called off so just didn't turn up. The Cockle Rockers were not put off and the small crowd that did come along were treated to 2 sets of entertaining 'Folk & Rock' as only Grand Reunion can put on.
Sunshine & wind all Friday dried out the duck pond and 300 people had a great night dancing to 'Jackie Wilson Says'. You know exactly what you're going to get with this band and they delivered 2 sets brilliantly.
On to Saturday and the marquee was transformed into a barn with tables & chairs replaced with bails of hay.
200 members and guests enjoyed the 'hog-roast' and Old English Barn Dancing with some paying more attention to the 'Caller' than others.
The week was capped off with Guest Day which went extremely well as the weather stayed dry just long enough to finish the golf before sitting down to a superb buffet laid on by our Captain Tony, June & the ever helpful Cruella Devil.
The Club made a good profit from it's bar and food sales and the charity total stands at £3,150 with a few loose odds & ends still to be collected.
For a small Club I think we have done a good job and you should all thank the team of helpers that put it all together. Pete Robinson,Mick & Julie MacGregor, Colin Wyatt, Colin Fulker, Captain Tony with June,John & Tina Gosling, Niven Dimmer,Mick Farrer with his Son Joe, Frosty, Kevin Playfair, Caroline Anna & Katie Southgate, Dave Seymour, Ian Spooner, James Glover, Steve Robertson,Dave Buckley, Denny & Matt behind the bar and anyone that I may have forgotten (sorry)
Who knows what we can achieve next year !
